The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

Refrigerants are liquids stored in your air conditioner’s coils that cool and dehumidify indoor air. If we didn’t have refrigerants, we wouldn’t have air conditioning. For years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce as a result of its damage to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo lessen environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now engineered to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and doesn’t contain chlorine, which means it’s ozone-friendly. You can feel great about using this refrigerant in Show Low because it’ll help make your cooling system work efficiently, reliably and quietly, and offer the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was made prior to 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You probably should look into upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is totally unavailable. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to use your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Rim Country Mechanical, Inc. work with R-410A, so you know we have an AC or heat pump that better meets your needs. Additionally, steer clear of”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
